COP08 Overload protection apparatus

Description

The digital apparatus type COP08 has been specifically designed for installation in overload protection and weighing system for cranes .

It is provided with independent input channels (up to 4), for connection to various transducers (e.g. load cells, inclinometers, rope length transducers).

The analog-to-digital conversion of the input signal is effected by a sigma-delta A/D converter, with a 16-bit internal resolution; the instrument is a ratio meter, using the transducer supply voltage as reference voltage, so compensating any error due to voltage drops along the connecting cable.

The built-in stabilized and short-circuit protected power supply unit, 5 V DC 120 mA max, is suitable to energize up to twelve strain-gauges bridges, 350 ohms, parallel connected.

Up to 8 SPDT relays, 2 A capacity, are available for the alarms; one more relay is assigned to the failure alarm: both apparatus and transducers are always monitored by means of diagnostic devices.

The board can receive up to 4 external commands (voltage free contacts) through digital inputs, e.g., for remote zeroing or for hoist selection.

Analog / serial outputs and fieldbus are available as options, for interfacing to external devices, such as large displays, printers, PLC, data loggers, and so on.     

The measured quantities and other data are shown by means of two 6-digits LED displays and a bar-graph; a membrane keyboard with 16 keys is used for the commands and the parameter settings.

The indicator consists of a motherboard with a display board; it can be assembled in several models of metal or plastic box.

The typical applications of the apparatus COP08 are:

- overload protection and weighing systems for bridge cranes having two or more hoists

- overload protection and weighing systems for jib cranes having two or more hoists, with radius measuring and moment control

- overload protection and weighing systems for container handling cranes with control of weight unbalance

Due to its flexible configuration, this apparatus can be used also in weighing system with multiple tanks or hoppers, or in structure weighing to find the position of centre of gravity.
